[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Home health care agencies knowledgeable about the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) data sets already know how rigorous they are. It then comes to determining measureable data for home health patient care risk factors and outcomes from start of care to discharge. Upcoming changes to OASIS (from OASIS-C2 to OASIS-D) beginning January 1, 2019 are just around the corner. What can you expect?
2019 OASIS changes – a brief snapshot
First, a number of current items appear in new sections. Many of these focus on time points (SOC, ROC, FU, TRN, DC, or Death) but all are intended to standardize assessment data elements for quality measurement, outcome comparisons, and cross-setting data collection.
All in all, six new items appear, seven have been revised, and 28 items identified for removal to reduce burden of data collection. Below are items that were removed if they were not used in support of:
- HH QRP measures
- HH Prospective Payment System (PPS)
- Survey process for Medicare certification
- HH Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) demonstration measures
- Critical risk-adjustment factors
- Conditions of Participation
