Navigating the Transition to Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)

February 21, 2024

State-by-state EVV information: Provided by WellSky

The 21st Century Cures Act mandates that by January 1, 2023, states implement electronic visit verification (EVV) for all home health agencies serving Medicaid patients that require an in-home visit by a provider. Many states have been granted a  Good Faith Exemption that extends that date to January 1, 2024; however, several states were required to follow the initial compliance date.

WellSky is committed to helping ensure EVV readiness for our clients.

  • WellSky Visit Verification for Home Health (formerly known as KVV) has new EVV-compliant components that are being rolled out on a state-by-state basis. These EVV-compliant components will support you if you intend to pursue certification with your state.
  • WellSky Visit Verification for Home Health was successfully launched in January of 2023 to a number of states using Sandata as the aggregator, and we are broadening our reach to ALL open states (see below state-by-state listing for information on your state) for full integration by the January 1, 2024 deadline extension.
  • If the WellSky Home Health Integration Status for your state is listed below as “Available Now,” please reach out to your client success or sales representative to request more information about WellSky Visit Verification for Home Health and to request that the EVV-compliant components be enabled for your agency.
  • Please note that states that follow a closed model do not allow third-party integrations; you will need to work directly with your state on the EVV solution that is required for following the mandate.

Please reach out to hhh-sales@wellsky.com for any additional questions related to state eligibility or to get more information on the EVV implementation process.
