Home Health EVV Update/Reminder

July 2, 2024

Home health agencies are reminded of the policy concerning Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Home Phone Landline Requirements. Compliance with these requirements is mandatory to ensure proper tracking and billing of home health services.

Landline Requirements:

  • The landline must be the member’s home phone number or a frequently used location like a family member’s or neighbor’s home.
  • Permission must be obtained from the landline owner for its use by the member and the service provider or Consumer Directed Services (CDS) employee.
  • The phone must be a landline, not a mobile or cellular-enabled device.

Allowable and Unallowable Landline Types:

  • Allowable: Fixed Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) lines tied to the member’s or CDS employer’s address.
  • Unallowable: Mobile phones, cellular-enabled devices, and non-fixed VOIP lines.

Program providers, Financial Management Services Agencies (FMSAs), and CDS employers must use the EVV Landline Phone Verification Report to ensure compliance. Further details are available in EVV Policy 7030 and EVV Policy 10020. For inquiries, email EVV Operations.
